Inspiration is very important in life, no matter what road you have chosen to walk. Photography is my vocation, my calling. Even though I receive a lot of my inspiration from nature, I love to look at the work of photographers who are master craftsmen. Michael Kenna is considered to be one of the most influential living landscape photographers ever.
Yesterday I took delivery of his book “Forms of Japan” 
I am totally spellbound by the beauty of each printed image. No matter how good digital technology it can never replicate the feeling of viewing a printed image. 
Michael Kenna’s reverence for his subject and crafting of the photograph in the field and the darkroom shines through in each and every photograph. His use of the tonal range, contrast, and grain are woven in perfect harmony to create a beautiful photograph.
Michael Kenna's dedication, patience, learning and hard work over many years has honed his vision to create masterpieces out of the simplest subjects. 
"Forms of Japan" will become my photography bible, it will provide sustenance to feed my photography soul, body and mind.
 

Living in South Africa it can be very difficult to source photography books in stores. Luckily I found an online store www.raru.co.za it took a while to get delivery, but otherwise, it was a good experience.
