Zebra – Battle in Black and White
I love observing the behaviour of zebras. On a stormy day, I watched an intruder stallion approach a small herd on a hillside. The herd stallion immediately shifted into protective mode, and a fierce battle erupted. In this dramatic moment, both zebras are suspended in mid-air, their front legs raised high as they clash. The zebra on the left is fully outstretched, his teeth locked onto the neck of his opponent. The other zebra, more upright with his front legs reaching even higher, bares his teeth in a snarl, his eyes wide with a mix of anger and pain. The tension is palpable—their black-and-white stripes stark against the stormy sky, a breathtaking display of power, survival, and raw emotion. This piece, Zebra – Battle in Black and White, captures the primal intensity of nature. It’s a companion to Zebra Dance, another work that explores the elegance and rhythm of zebra behaviour. Together, these prints tell a story of duality—grace and ferocity, beauty and struggle, all woven into the timeless dance of life in the wild. behaviour
